Yes, you read it right. Last night MSNBC’s Chris Matthews went for the cheapest shot possible (and most inaccurate, historically) against Mitt Romney. In a conversation about where the presumptive GOP presidential nominee stands on a range of issues, Matthews did his best to sneak in a shot on behalf of the DNC. Former GOP Chairman Michael Steele was not having any of it though.

Matthews: Where is he on science?

Steele: Ask him. I don’t know.

Matthews: Where is he on climate?

Steele: it wasn’t an issue in the primary (laughs).

Matthews: Ok, let’s go. Well it certainly was—you’re  the Grand Wizard crowd over there. Anyway, look, let’s take a look at this—

Steele: I resent that. Come on now, what is this Grand Wizard nonsense? Are you saying—

Matthews: Okay, I’m just saying the far right party—

Steele: Are you saying that we’re Ku Klux Klan? Come on, give me a break. Don’t go there with me on that. Alright?
