Former President Bill Clinton dealt Barack Obama an insult Sunday on NBC’s “Meet the Press” when he told host David Gregory that no Democratic candidate should run on Obama’s record.
Gregory asked Clinton to specify the difficulties facing any liberal candidate “running on the Obama economy” for the 2016 presidency.
“That’s not what anybody should do,” replied Clinton. “You should run on making it better. But he didn’t cause the meltdown. The actions that his administration took kept it from being worse. And there had been a concerted effort to stop implementing his economic plan in the second term so none of you have any idea whether they would have worked or not.”
The former president did not confirm whether or not Hillary will run for the Oval Office, though he did promise his wife he would be a “foot soldier” in her army should she decide in the affirmative.
Bill’s comments come shortly after the release of journalist Edward Klein’s “Blood Feud: The Clintons vs. The Obamas,” which chronicles the negative relationship between the two power couples that has worsened over the years.
The book alleges that Bill Clinton told a friend after the 2008 campaign, “I hate that man Obama more than any man I’ve ever met, more than any man who ever lived.”
According to Klein, the female counterparts of Bill and Barack are no friendlier; in fact, Michelle has dubbed Hillary “Hildebeest” after a large, hairy, hideous animal.
The Clinton-Obama war can only get worse, especially if Hillary decides to run for president. Thankfully, she has Bill the foot soldier at her side.
