New female-targeted ad features Obama as a bad boyfriend

President Obama is like a bad boyfriend that voters just can’t get rid of.

A new 60-second spot by Americans for Shared Prosperity plays on that theme and features a woman saying she “fell in love” with Obama back in 2008.

“By 2012, our relationship was in trouble. But I stuck with him because he promised he’d get better,” she said before hitting the president on issues like NSA spying and Obamacare. “He’s great at promises.”

“He thinks the only thing I care about is free birth control, but he won’t even let me keep my own doctor,” the woman in the ad states.

John Jordan, a California winery owner and head of the group Americans for Shared Prosperity, is trying to reach out to women through this type of ad spot. The ads are designed to get Republican values to appeal to women, according to Politico.

“The goal here is to communicate with women voters in a way that outside groups and campaigns haven’t,” Jordan told Politico. “Women voters care as much about the economy, jobs, death and spending as do other groups — but certainly on the Republican side there’s been no effort to reach that group.”

He said these ads will treat female voters “more like adults than either the Democrats or Republicans have.”
