This congressman just proved you’re never too old for love

Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska) is getting married at age 81, reports the Associated Press.

The Republican representative, who is currently the longest serving congressman in the House of Representatives from his party, made the engagement announcement Sunday to an audience of mega-churchgoers in Anchorage, Alaska.

Young will marry Anne Garland Walton, a flight nurse who, in her 70s, is just barely Young’s junior.

The happy news comes just years after Young’s wife of 46 years, Lu, passed away in 2009.

The congressman is currently running for his 22nd term in the House of Representatives.

Considering the median age of first marriage is 28 for men and 26 for women and that for second marriage is 36 for men and 33 for women, Congressman Young’s engagement certainly bodes hopeful for older individuals looking for love.

His story just might make the argument for a senior edition of “The Bachelor.”
