During the CNN Republican debate, Ted Cruz was given an opportunity to speak on one of his favorite topics, the Iran deal.

John Kasich had referred to it as “inexperienced” and “playing to the crowd” to ripping up the Iran deal, and Cruz was given a chance to respond.

In calling the deal “catastrophic” and the “biggest threat,” Cruz mostly repeated the points he he made during a rally against the deal last week.

Cruz also said, “you better believe it,” he would “rip to shreds,” that deal. Such a comment was met with applause.

As to addressing experience, Cruz spoke about his time as Attorney General for Texas.

Going back to the Iran deal, Cruz claimed that the UN has no power to bind the United States, and “no president” has a right to give away the country’s sovereignty. That would be “giving up core responsibility as commander and chief.”
