Typically, the Supreme Court is among the most secretive organs of the federal government, but reports indicate that conservative justices on the high court may have been behind the leaks about Chief Justice John Roberts’ stance.
CBS News reported after the Obamacare decision was handed down that Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts originally sided with the four justices who were in the dissenting opinion.
However, the sources reported that although Roberts felt the individual mandate is unconstitutional, he did not feel the entire law should be struck down.
According to an article by Time magazine, Justice Anthony Kennedy was the most vocal in trying to lobby Roberts to the side of the conservative justices. But in the end, Roberts sided with the liberal justices, and for that, the conservative justices are “furious” with Roberts.
