As part of filmmaker Ami Horowitz’s latest social experiment, he compared the reactions of University of California Berkeley students to him waving the Islamic State flag and the flag of Israel. He found a stark difference between the reactions, but not in the way you might think.
First, he waved an Islamic State flag while shouting anti-American statements and asking for support for terrorist group ISIS. His words barely registered a glance from most students in the footage published. He didn’t elicit any direct interactions with students until he lit a cigarette on campus and was told he would get written up by the university for it.
But when he began waving the Israeli flag and condemning Hamas, that cordial reception all changed.
Students featured in the short video cursed at him, called him a murderer, and said he was to blame for all of the human rights crises around the world.
