Homer Simpson to vote in 2016 presidential election

Homer Simpson is going to cast his vote in the 2016 presidential election.

The executive producer of The Simpsons Al Jean revealed some juicy tidbits about the 27th season of the hit cartoon during a recent interview with Variety.

“We’re definitely going to have Homer vote in 2016,” explained Jean when asked about the upcoming race for the White House and its presence on the show. “One aspect of the pickup that made me happy is that Homer can vote again. He voted for Romney in 2012 because he invented Obamacare. He tried to voted for Obama in 2008 but all his votes went to McCain.”

However, 2016 contenders will have to wait to find out which one of them will win Homer’s vote; Jean refused to offer any “hints” as to which politician the character will favor.

“We’re not sure who the candidates are yet, but whatever he wants it’s not going to happen,” explained Jean.

Luckily for Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, a Republican candidate for president and a massive fan of The Simpsons, this likely presents the perfect opportunity for him to make an attempt to win the character’s vote in advance of the election (however hard that may be, considering Jean has previously expressed his disapproval of the conservative lawmaker).

Jean also revealed during the conversation with variety that Lena Dunham will voice a character in the upcoming season, as will Kate McKinnon from Saturday Night Live. Hillary Clinton will undoubtedly be excited about that.
