Mitt Romney during university speech: Hillary ‘doesn’t know where jobs come from’

During a speech at Mississippi State University Wednesday night, potential GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney alleged that Hillary Clinton “doesn’t know where jobs come from.”

The former Massachusetts governor was referencing remarks Clinton made at a Democratic campaign rally last year ahead of the midterm election during which she said that businesses and corporations don’t create jobs.

“How can Secretary Clinton provide opportunity for all if she doesn’t know where jobs come from in the first place?” Romney asked during his speech, according to Politico.

“And how does President Obama expect to make America the best place on earth for businesses, as he promised in his State of the Union address, if he persists in business taxation that is the highest in the developed world, regulations that favor the biggest banks and crush the small ones, a complex and burdensome health care plan, and a slanted playing field for unions and trial lawyers?” he continued.

While campaigning for failed gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley in Massachusetts last October, Clinton told her audience, “Don’t let anybody tell you that, you know, it’s corporations and businesses that create jobs.”

On Wednesday, Romney directed his jobs comments at his college audience, emphasizing the need for the next President of the United States to focus on boosting and bettering employment for young Americans.

“I can’t count how many recent college graduates I met who expected a high-paying job at graduation and instead were waiting tables,” said Romney.

“We need a president who will do what it takes to bring more good paying jobs to the placement offices of our college campuses,” he added.

Rumors surrounding Romney and his possible third bid for the presidency have been mounting for weeks now, but he has yet to confirm or deny them.
