President Obama read mean tweets about himself on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night and there was at least one well-known Twitter handle in the mix.
“President Obama will go down as perhaps the worst president in the history of the United States,” Obama read. That tweet was attributed to @realDonaldTrump and was sent in August of this year.
He responded, “Really? Well, realDonaldTrump, at least I will go down as a president.”
Other mean tweets called Obama “the Sharknado of presidents” and said he “couldn’t negotiate getting a Whopper without pickles.”
During his interview with Kimmel, Obama took a few more jabs at the Republican nominee.
When Kimmel asked about dealing with high pressure situations and late night phone calls from his aides, Obama said, “What I don’t do at 3 a.m., I don’t tweet about people who insulted me.”
Kimmel also asked Obama if he laughed at Trump when watching the presidential debates.
“Most of the time,” Obama said.
On a more serious note, Obama said him and Michelle have campaigned so hard for Clinton because they believe Trump must be defeated.
“I ran against John McCain, I ran against Mitt Romney, obviously I thought I could do a better job, but they’re both honorable men. If they had won, then I wouldn’t worry about the general course of this country,” he said. “What we haven’t seen before is somebody questioning the integrity of elections and the will of the people. What we haven’t seen before is a politics based on putting down – in very explicit terms – Muslim Americans who are patriots, or describing women, not in terms of their intellect or their character, but on a one-to-ten score.”
