Bill Clinton and Usher will fundraise for Democratic candidate for Senate in Georgia

In the latest instance of Democrat-celebrity coupling, former President Bill Clinton and singer Usher will join forces at a September 13 fundraiser for Democratic candidate for Senate in Georgia Michelle Nunn.

The fundraising event will take place at Usher’s home in Atlanta, Georgia.

“Both in office and out, President Clinton has been a tireless advocate for Georgia families and a force for consensus building and creative problem solving in Washington,” Nunn told The Wall Street Journal. “I have been honored to work with him as CEO of President George H.W. Bush‘s Points of Light Foundation, and I am very grateful to have his support in this race.”

Clinton is clearly a better choice than President Obama for the fundraiser’s VIP political guest, considering he is the last Democratic nominee for president to win Georgia.

This is certainly not the first time that Clinton and Usher have rubbed shoulders. The two shook hands at the Clinton Global Initiative in September of 2009 in New York City.

Perhaps Bill is cozying up to celebrities in an attempt to win their endorsement for his wife Hillary ahead of her probable 2016 presidential run.

He’d certainly be following in Obama’s footsteps; the president has delighted in mingling with celebrities like actress Kerry Washington and singer Janelle Monae, among many others.
