It looks like Weird Al Yankovic didn’t stop writing new material with the release of “Mandatory Fun,” lending his parody talents to the Emmy Awards Monday night for a medley of TV themes that included lyrics.
Yankovic was joined by Andy Samberg at one point to sing to the “Game of Thrones” theme, urging author George R. R. Martin to do what he’s already been asked a million times: hurry up and write more already.
“Type, George, type as fast as you can / we need more scripts,” Weird Al sings, as Martin, seated in the audience, is handed a typewriter.
He was a good sport about it.
