Good news: The Democrats have a ‘Koch Sisters’ ad now

Great.

In a departure from the ominous attack ads and fiery rhetoric (see Reid, Harry) that have dominated the anti-Koch playbook this year, the AFL-CIO is launching a lighter, more positive campaign featuring the “Koch sisters” — two women whose last names really are Koch. Their goal: Serve as a friendly counterbalance to the policies the other Kochs have championed.

“We’re just two average women who’ve raised families and worked hard all our lives,” says Karen Koch in a 30-second TV ad that launches Thursday. Joyce Koch adds, “We don’t have billions to spend on political campaigns.”

The Washington Post’s Sean Sullivan continues, writing that the ad is running in Kentucky (home of Hollywood favorite Alison Lundergan Grimes) and Michigan. Deservedly, it has only 500 YouTube views at the time of publication.

More spots are already on the “Koch Sisters” YouTube page.

And as the AP observes, the ad campaign has a contemporary, ahem, *flavor* to it: “The ads are similar to Taco Bell’s recent ads featuring customers named Ronald McDonald proclaiming their affinity for the chain’s waffle taco.”

We’re sure Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is woofing down a Cheesy Gordita Crunch in front of a computer somewhere as he plays the YouTube videos on repeat.
