Lena Dunham gets nominated for a Golden Globe for the ‘first time’

Earlier this year, actress Lena Dunham made headlines for her creepy Obama campaign video comparing losing one’s virginity to voting. Now, the 26-year-old has another ‘first time’ to celebrate — being nominated for a Golden Globe award.

On Thursday, the Golden Globes announced that Dunham had been nominated for “Best Actress” in a musical or comedy TV series, for her work on HBO’s “Girls.” Fellow nominees in the category include Zooey Deschanel (“New Girl“), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (“Veep“) Tina Fey (“30 Rock“) and Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation“).

Dunham’s show was also nominated for “Best TV Comedy,” pitted against “Big Bang Theory,” “Modern Family,” “Episodes” and “Smash.”

The 2013 Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast on NBC on Jan. 13, 2013 at 8 p.m. EST. Tune in to see if Dunham’s first time nomination is amazing or a big disappointment. But in her own words — before she was a girl; now she’s a woman.
