Dear Liberal Women…

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) is making headlines for basically being told to shut it on the Senate floor. This wasn’t because she was a woman. It’s because she was broke the Senate rules.

Warren tried to read a letter criticizing fellow Senator Jeff Sessions, who was recently confirmed U.S. Attorney General. Warren sought to impugn Sessions’ character, which is not only against the Senate rules, but also against the code of basic adulting and against the rule of “keep your credibility by not using blatant ad hominems.” Those last two aren’t actual Senate rules, to my knowledge, but they probably should be.

Anyway, of course the Left is now crying sexism. Poor shamed woman who was told to follow the rules. How is it possible she was held to the same standards as every other senator. Can you believe it? (Somewhere, someone is starting to organize a protest and/or “march.” Probably at UC Berkeley.)

But here’s a newsflash, ladies: holding the actions of any person to the standard rules everyone else is held to isn’t gender specific. This is what we call a law or rule of neutral general applicability.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was actually simply upholding the rules. There is zero evidence that this effective “sit down” was gender biased. Warren is a senator in breach of the rules who just happens to be a woman; not a woman who is prejudiced against who happens to be a senator. There is a big difference.

As a woman myself, I think it’s completely absurd that liberal women simultaneously want both gender-neutral treatment at work (valid) and also preferential treatment whenever we demand it as the supposed “goddesses” (or something) we are. Liberal women are the first to throw down the sexism card and whine when women aren’t given subjectively preferential gender-biased treatment whenever we are actually held to the same standards as our fellow male colleagues.

This is yet another example of liberal hypocrisy. The line of argument is just whatever works in the moment. Consistency and logic doesn’t seem to matter.

It’s absurd. Sen. Warren and liberal women everywhere who are whining about gender bias: Respectfully, I’m with the Senate.

Shut it.
