Americans now rate President Obama as less competent than George W. Bush when he held office, according to a recent Fox News poll.
When asked the question, “Do you think the Obama administration is more or less competent than the George W. Bush administration?” 48 percent of those surveyed replied “less,” while only 42 percent described Obama’s administration as more competent. 7 percent rated both administrations as equally competent.
The analysis also indicates that the majority of Americans disapprove of the job President Obama is doing with regards to the economy, health care and foreign policy. Moreover, 52 percent of those surveyed said they hold an overall unfavorable opinion of the president, while only 45 percent view him favorably. And, the majority called Obama’s leadership skills “poor” as opposed to “excellent,” “good” and “only fair.”
The results somewhat mirror a CNN/ORC poll released earlier this week, in which the president failed to break 50 percent approval for his handling of any of twelve issues surveyed.
In addition to Obama-specific questions, the FOX poll also sheds light on developing scandals like those involving the Department of Veterans Affairs, Benghazi, the NSA and the IRS. Review the analysis here.
Conducted between June 1 and June 3, the poll surveyed over one thousand registered voters. 38 percent of respondents identified themselves as Democrats, while 36 percent called themselves Republicans and 22 percent said they belonged to the Independent/Other category.
