Northwestern University to present ‘NU Sex Week 2018’

Northwestern University, a school initially founded by members the United Methodist Church, will offer a Christian service in the Protestant tradition to celebrate Easter Sunday. Two days later, the university will celebrate NU Sex Week 2018, a multiday extravaganza of sexual promiscuity and educational techniques related to sex.

The events kick off on Tuesday, April 3, with a “Condoms and Candy Celebration,” followed by a lively round of Sex Jeopardy. Tuesday’s events conclude with a talk by the feminist writer Roxane Gay, who once called on former President Barack Obama to direct the U.S. Treasury to replace Andrew Jackson’s likeness on the $20 with with noted eugenicist and founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger.

On Wednesday, the fun rolls right along with a discussion titled, “Sex is Good: The Benefits of Masturbation,” followed by a panel by Northwestern students who are engaging in polyamory, the practice of being romantically involved with multiple individuals at the same time. In addition to discussing the polyamorous lifestyle, there will be free condoms and lube, and one lucky participant wins a sex toy.

Meanwhile Thursday is packed, beginning with the opportunity for students to make their “own sexual wellness package to prepare for business, self-care, and pleasure!” Later that evening, students will have the rare opportunity to learn BDSM techniques from Sophia the Dominatrix, an established BDSM sex educator who owns the Chicago Dungeon Rentals.

Sex Week wraps up [pardon the pun] on Friday with presentations on “Gender and Sex: Queer and Kink,” as well as a talk by Deborah Caust, Ph.D., who is a clinical professor of sexology based in San Francisco.

Students who might be short on funds from paying the $72,980 yearly cost of attendance Northwestern University need not worry, as all events are free and are sponsored by the Northwestern University College Feminists.
