In Martin Bashir’s “Clear the Air” segment Wednesday afternoon, the MSNBC host told viewers the phrase ‘IRS’ is equated to the word “n****r.”
“So this afternoon, we welcome the latest phrase in this lexicon of attacks on the president,” Bashir said. “The IRS.”
During his show, Bashir referenced President George H.W. Bush’s former campaign manager and Republican National Committee Chairman Lee Atwater, who noted the evolution of the term n*****r.
Bashir also said that Republicans were using the IRS as their “latest weapon in the war against the black man in the White House.”
The MSNBC host closed, saying in reference to the agency, “Three letters that sound so innocent, but we know what you mean.”
