NRA’s Wayne LaPierre: Mayor Bloomberg says “insane” things

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg says “insane” things, according to National Rifle Association Executive Director Wayne LaPierre.

LaPierre appeared on NBC‘s ‘Meet the Press‘ with David Gregory on Sunday morning, where the NRA head lambasted Bloomberg for his view on guns.

“It’s insane, the stuff he says,” LaPierre stated, referring to Bloomberg’s desired magazine capacity limit and the Mayor’s accusation that the NRA wants to put nukes on guns.

He added that Bloomberg was “reckless in his comments” on the issue of guns.

LaPierre also criticized the Mayor for his ‘hands-on’ governing style, saying that Bloomberg would eventually figure out that he “can’t buy America.”

“He can’t spend enough of his $27 billion to try to impose his will on the American public,” the NRA head said. “They don’t want him in their restaurants. They don’t want him in their homes. They don’t want him telling them what food to eat. They sure don’t want him telling what self-defense firearms to own.”

Earlier on ‘Meet the Press,’ Bloomberg had announced that he was going to put his political and financial weight behind candidates who support harsher gun control laws. The Mayor said he had already spent $12 million on ads running in 10 states. He said he had “an obligation” and “a responsibility” to make the U.S. safer.

“And if I can do that by spending some money and taking the NRA from being the only voice to being one of the voices so the public can really understand the issues, then I think my money would be well spent,” Bloomberg said.
