Greenpeace protesters climbed a 270-foot crane on a construction site just blocks away from the White House in Washington, D.C. Wednesday morning to send a message to President Donald Trump: RESIST!
The block of 15th Street NW between L and M Streets were blocked off by police while they tried to negotiate with three climbers dangling by a rope to end their protest. The construction site is where the old Washington Post building used to be, which oddly enough is right next door to the Red Alert Politics office. It’s also only a few blocks north of the White House.
After being up on the crane for over an hour, the protesters unfurled a yellow and orange banner directed at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, which read “RESIST” in big block letters with the Greenpeace logo in the corner.
As you can tell from the tweet below, the banner is visible from the White House.

While three protesters were dangling from a rope, there were seven total Greenpeace members helping in the effort.
jason from greenpeace tells me it’s 7 of his fellow greenpeace-guys up there. 2 blocking police entrance to crane, 5 hanging up top.
