Wisconsin Dems cancel post-primary unity rally

I‘ve long been under the assumption that Wisconsin Democrats would unite around Voldemort if he were running against Gov. Scott Walker. But the Democratic primary for the right to challenge Walker in next month’s recall election got much more contentious than I would have expected. Now, with Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett looking like the probable victor in tomorrow’s primary against union-backed Kathleen Falk and other minor candidates, Democrats have cancelled a unity rally for Wednesday that had been intended to bring together all of the candidates for an anti-Walker fiesta.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin announced on Facebook:

Recent public polls have made one thing perfectly clear: this race will be decided on turnout.

After serious discussion, we believe we can’t afford to lose a single day of voter contact. It is imperative that we do everything we can to contact and turn out the voters we need to achieve what we have all worked so hard for over the past fifteen months – recalling Scott Walker.

The time for celebrating is when we beat Scott Walker on June 5th. So instead of uniting in celebration at the Capitol now, we need to unite in action all across the state.
