During Ted Cruz’s big announcement at Liberty University yesterday–which students were required to attend–some Rand Paul supporters decided to troll Cruz by donning “Stand with Rand” shirts:

And when Megyn Kelly asked Rand Paul about the incident, a few hours later, Paul looked like this:
Paul recalled his own days at Baylor University, where convocation was also mandatory. “Some of those who were required wanted to make sure that just by having to be there they weren’t expressing their support,” he observed. “We were glad to see them there and organized and excited about the possibility of me running.”
Paul said he had not watched the entire speech yet, but “didn’t find much that I disagreed with.”
He noted that he and Cruz have similar voting records, but said they differ in how Paul wants to grow the party rather than throw “red meat.”
“I guess what makes us different is probably our approach as to how we would make the party bigger,” he said. “I’ve spent the last couple years trying to go places Republicans haven’t gone, maybe not just throwing out red meat, but actually throwing out something intellectually enticing to people who haven’t been listening to our message before.”
“It isn’t just about rousing the base,” he said.
