Anthony Weiner shrugs over Snapchat suggestion, alludes to Hillary Clinton 2016

Yeah, he went there.

At the New York City edition of Buzzfeed Brews, Buzzfeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith asked mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner why he hadn’t been more tech-savvy in his sexting.

“Why not use Snapchat?” Smith mused. Snapchat allows senders to still send dirty photos, but then they disappear. “I don’t have a good answer to that,” Weiner shrugged.

Smith bobbed in and out of talking about the most recent “digital sin” scandal dogging the former Congressman’s mayoral campaign. “Did you have any impulse just to say, ‘this isn’t weird, this is what I do, leave me alone?’” Smith suggested of Weiner. Weiner’s answer was no.

The New York Democrat also thought it was good that he resigned from Congress after the original Weinergate scandal of 2011. “It wasn’t a function of weathering something, it was a function of–I had done great dishonor to my wife and to my family and I had to turn my attention to repairing that,” Weiner noted.

This time around, Weiner said he realizes that he’s still causing his wife, Huma Abedin, pain. “I feel that what I’ve done has hurt her, yeah,” Weiner said. “It’s hurt her professionally, it’s hurt her personally…she’s gotten roughed up and it’s been completely unfair.”

Weiner also acknowledged that it’s been months since he’s seen the Clintons, including his wife’s former boss Hillary Clinton. “I have given wide berth to my colleagues in public life because I know I’ve got a lot to prove to them as well,” Weiner explained. He did say, however, that Abedin still had a spot in Hillaryland, spilling that he knew what her role would be in a 2016 presidential campaign. “I do,” Weiner smirked. “I’m not telling you,” he added.
