Obtaining marijuana for medicinal purposes in Washington state is now as easy as ordering a pizza for dinner.
Several businesses in the Seattle area have started offering medical marijuana delivery services over the past few months, allowing residents to get fresh cannabis leaves straight to their door.
One such service, Nurse Nancy Marijuana Delivery, boasts delivering “top quality medicine” to your doorstep in just thirty minutes. Nurse Nancy’s service is free to anyone with a government ID and proof of medical marijuana authorization, and is available seven days a week from 10am to 2am pacific.
The company’s website lists several available strains of marijuana, which they describe as being “grown locally by professional horticulturists using organic nutrients and love,” along with suggested donations for different amounts of marijuana.
Another local business, Kured Collective, has billed itself to be Seattle’s “top shelf medicinal marijuana delivery service.”
Businesses like Nurse Nancy’s and Kured Collective may also see a boom in business next year when the legal sale of marijuana for recreational use is expected to begin.
The legalization of marijuana for recreational use in Washington state last year seems to have helped encourage entrepreneurship through these medical marijuana delivery services, however it hasn’t taken away the stigma and scrutiny that such businesses may face under federal law, where marijuana is still considered an illegal drug.
President Obama announced late last year that the federal government would not go after recreational marijuana use in Washington and Colorado after both states passed ballot initiatives legalizing the drug in November, but it remains unclear whether they will put a stop to the state licensing of pot growers, processors and distributors.
