Obama wants you to enjoy ‘House of Cards’ – just not to tweet it

While people start their Valentine’s Day binge fest of Netflix’s “House of Cards” season two, one person is pleading with the Twitterverse not to disclose any juicy spoilers from the next installment of the series.

The president’s official Twitter account sent out the following message Thursday night in anticipation of the season release at midnight.

While the tweet lacked the standard “-BO” that usually accompanies messages written personally by the president, USA TODAY reported that Obama has plans to watch the series this weekend.

Fortunately for the president, Netflix is one step ahead of him, creating a “spoiler foiler” so people wouldn’t have to see the tweets if they didn’t want to.

“House of Cards,” which is loosely based on the BBC series of the same name, is a political thriller about a power-hungry Washington couple and the lengths they will go to in order to get ahead. The show stars Kevin Spacey as Congressman (and later Vice President) Frank Underwood, Robin Wright as his wife, Claire, and Kate Mara as reporter Zoe Barnes.

Netflix released the following as its preview for season two:

The show’s stars shared their exuberance over Obama’s implied approval of the show at a premiere event Thursday night. According to The Associated Press, Wright said that Obama “knows good stuff” while Mara called the tweet “one of the coolest things that’s happened to me.”

Obama has also quipped in the past that Washington, D.C. would function much better if it were run like it was on “House of Cards.”
