[VIDEO] Rep. Tim Griffin asks “Who Said It?” about the nation’s debt

In just under 90 days it will have been four years since Senate Democrats have passed a budget and House Republicans are now hitting back hard, using the power of the purse to force the Senate to act. Last week the House passed the No Budget, No Pay Act (H.R. 325), which will suspend pay for Congress if the Senate hasn’t passed a budget by April 15.

Rep. Tim Griffin (R-Ark.) has released a new video explaining why the legislation is “common sense.” The game-show style video called, “Who Said It?” allows viewers to guess who which Democratic leader made the following riveting statements about our nation’s out-of-control debt when Republicans were in charge.

“Given the explosion of debt in recent years, it is long past time for Washington to change the course and adopt a new fiscal policy. After all, the future of our economy and our nation is at stake… Under the circumstances, any credible economist would tell you we should be reducing debt, not increasing it.”

And let’s not forget this gem.

“Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better. I therefore intend to oppose the effort to increase America’s debt limit.”

The game isn’t quite as much fun as ‘The Price is Right’ and you don’t get to “come on down,” but it’s a fun way to learn about a very important issue facing our county.
