Our nation’s first populist president is no longer in the people’s favor — well, not Treasury Secretary Jack Lew’s favor anyway.
Politico reported that Lew will make an announcement on Wednesday announcing that Alexander Hamilton will remain on the $10, but former President Andrew Jackson will be removed from the $20 bill.
Even though Hamilton will remain on the $10 bill, the currency will receive some alteration. The women who lead in the fight for women’s suffrage will be placed on the back of the dollar.
Jackson will be removed entirely and replaced by abolitionist Harriet Tubman.
The $5 bill will also receive alterations, ‘Honest Abe’ will remain on the face of the currency, but other civil rights leaders will be incorporated on the bill.
Surely this new found interest in Tubman will lead to biopic movie in the near future.
