Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has a fever, and the only prescription is more gun control.
After a bloody Memorial Day Weekend in Chicago that left 12 dead and 43 more wounded, Emanuel’s solution to the carnage is more gun control.
At a luncheon Tuesday honoring police the mayor said that only “community action” and “stronger gun laws” could bring peace to Chicago.
“It is not just about how many police you have, it is about the quantity of guns that are on the street so we actually have gun laws that back up the men and women we just recognized,” said Emmanuel, according to CBS Chicago.
This claim also comes despite the fact that Chicago already has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country.
As Breitbart News points out, none of the shooters during the weekend were law-abiding citizens, so new regulations on guns likely wouldn’t help as it would only impact those who follow the law.
