On Monday morning, President Obama finally got his own Twitter account, tweeting from the handle @POTUS.
It didn’t take long for former President Bill Clinton to engage Obama in digital conversation, wondering whether the next POTUS — cough cough, potentially his wife, Hillary — would be passed the Twitter handle when Obama leaves office in 2017.
Welcome to @Twitter, @POTUS! One question: Does that username stay with the office? #askingforafriend

Hmmm, wonder who that “friend” might be. Obama had a pretty good response.
Good question, @billclinton. The handle comes with the house. Know anyone interested in @FLOTUS?

Of course, should Hillary Clinton secure the presidency in the 2016 election, Bill Clinton would be the logical candidate to take over the @FLOTUS Twitter account.
Obama’s response to Bill Clinton was his third tweet of all time from his own account. The president has already racked up over 1.1 million followers, a figure that is certain to grow over the next few hours.
Michelle Obama commended her husband for entering the Twitterverse, sending her own tweet to him Monday afternoon.
It’s about time, @POTUS! –mo
