“Ladies and gentleman, Frontier Airlines is known for being one of the cheapest airlines in the U.S., but your captain is not cheap. I just ordered pizza for the entire plane.” So announced Captain Gerhard Brandner over the loudspeaker to passengers on a DC to Denver flight that was diverted to Wyoming due to inclement weather.
With passengers tired and hungry after sitting on the tarmac for over an hour, Brandner called the manager of a Domino’s Pizza in Cheyenne and ordered pizza for the entire plane, earning him the title “greatest airline pilot ever.”
The 35 boxes of pizza arrived on the tarmac in record time, to applause and cheers from passengers. The plane took off shortly after the pizza was polished off.
Brandner explained the reason behind his generous pizza purchase to 9News. “If the need arises you need to take care of your family; you need to take care of your passengers,” he said. “They are my responsibility the moment they step on the aircraft until they get off the aircraft.”
Brandner didn’t even get to watch the passengers dig in, because he was busy reprogramming the computers on the plane for the flight to Denver.
Meanwhile, stranded passengers across America wonder, as they gnaw hungrily on their finger nails, why all pilots can’t be more like Captain Brandner.
