President Obama can’t use his pen to fix this.
A national Quinnipiac poll released today shows Obama ranks as the worst president since World War II. The question asked specifically which of the 12 presidents since Truman respondents would “consider the worst,” and 33 percent of the nearly 1,500 registered voters surveyed gave Obama the nod. (Or is it shake of the head?) This result held up among both men and women, as well as independents. Those aged 18-29 said Bush was the worst, with 38 percent, and Obama was second-worst, with 24 percent.
Overall, Bush ranked second with 28 percent, and Richard Nixon polled third.
The polls have not been the president’s friend as of late, and the latest from Quinnipiac certainty doesn’t help. According to the poll, only 40 percent of voters approve of Obama, while 54 percent said his administration has not “been competent in running the government.”
45 percent of those surveyed even said America would’ve been better off with Obama’s 2012 challenger, Mitt Romney, as president today.
Ouch.
Quinnipiac also polled the best president since World War II. Ronald Reagan came out on top, and it was no competition — 35 percent of those polled gave the nod to him. Bill Clinton came in a distant second with 18 percent.
