TSA uses social media to advertise confiscated items

Most people know the feeling of getting an item taken away at airport security. But now, you may end up seeing it on Instagram.

Last week, the TSA Blog Team account started posting photos of prohibited items on the photo sharing site. The images have captions identifying the items and which airports they were confiscated from, even getting creative with Pic Stitch and photo collages.

Some of the items Instagrammed so far include guns, knives and fireworks.

TSA has been using social media to advertise the items it confiscates from travelers since 2008 when they started a blog. The agency’s Instagram account went live just last month, and of course they have a Twitter account, too.
