President Barack Obama has failed to hold key members of his cabinet accountable, and according to former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, his inaction can be attributed to his laziness.
Palin discussed the President Obama’s inability to hold members of his administration accountable, including Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki, Attorney General Eric Holder and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, during an interview with Fox News’ Hannity on Wednesday night.
“When you hold someone accountable, it takes energy and resource, and Barack Obama is lazy,” the former Alaska governor said. “In fact, he warned us that he was lazy, and he attributed that to having been brought up in Hawaii.”
Palin attributed the recent scandals at the Department of Veteran Affairs — in which more than two dozen VA medical centers were found operating secret waiting lists for veterans — to President Obama, and said his lack of engagement has contributed to the malpractice occurring within the agency.
“The problem starts at the top,” she said. “When you have a commander-in-chief who has not been engaged and was told six years ago about the problems at the VA and has just pooh-poohed the problems, he has just been engaging in rhetoric about problems of those under his charge, our troops. They have earned the benefits that we should be providing them — that they have been promised — and yet the commander-in-chief has let that all go by the wayside until it blows up.”
Palin also noted that the growing size of government — which occurred under the 44th president and will continue — will only perpetuate the rampant problems of mismanagement and abuse that are occurring within several federal agencies, including the VA.
“Government is not the solution, like Ronald Reagan said. It is the problem,” the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said. “He doesn’t recognize that so he will continue to do what he’s doing. Status quo is fine with him.”
