Megyn Kelly clearly expressed her anger and frustration at President Obama Wednesday night on Fox News for his decision to attend a Democratic fundraiser in Rhode Island on Friday amidst the ISIS terrorist threat, as reports Mediaite.
After Fox News correspondent Ed Henry told her on air that Obama has such fundraising plans, Kelly uttered exasperatedly, “What?!”
“The optics he got beat up on over playing golf on vacation … clearly he doesn’t care about the criticism,” responded Henry, referring to the fact that individuals from both sides of the political aisle knocked Obama for playing golf after delivering a statement on the murder of American journalist James Foley at the hand of an ISIS militant.
“Really? He’s going to take a timeout from all the work he’s been doing in the Vineyard to go do some fundraising while we consider whether we need to bomb Syria and perhaps put boots on the ground?” Kelly asked sarcastically.
She was then joined by former presidential speech writer and fellow at AEI Marc Thiessen, who labeled Obama’s fundraising trip “absurd.” He also called press secretary Josh Earnest’s assertion that the president has a comprehensive plan to deal with ISIS a “complete fabrication.”
Thiessen also argued that history shows the president should take ISIS at their word as they claim they are at war with the United States.
“In the 1990s, in the Clinton administration, al-Qaeda declared war on the United States, we ignored it, and the result was 9/11,” recounted Thiessen. “And, it looks like history is repeating itself.”
Kelly then turned her attention to the show’s next guest, Democratic strategist Penny Lee, who attempted to assure the Fox News host that because “the White House always travels with the president,” Obama will be able to both attend a fundraiser and act on ISIS. Kelly boldly shut her down.
“Oh, stop!” exclaimed Kelly. “Stop that! Get real!”
Though Lee agreed that “the optics aren’t good,” Kelly countered that it’s Obama’s “actual behavior” that should have Americans worried and outraged.
“It’s not just the optics!” she said. “It’s the actual behavior. Get back and start governing! Americans could die. They could die in executing those strikes, if they’re not effective they could die back here in an attack on the homeland or interests elsewhere. What’s he doing?!”
According to the White House, Obama will attend a Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) event in Newport, Rhode Island, on Friday and will deliver some remarks there.
