Katie Couric talks Brian Williams, Monica Lewinsky

Katie Couric offered “Late Late Show” host James Corden her take on the Brian Williams controversy, which curiously involved referencing Monica Lewinsky.

While Couric stressed that Williams obviously “made a mistake” when he misled the public about his experiences when covering the Iraq War, she called the frenzy surrounding the situation “disconcerting.”

“I understand he’s being judged and his actions evaluated, but I feel like we live in a culture that’s so cruel and so judgmental that that’s been hard to watch,” explained Couric, who is a former colleague of the now-suspended NBC News anchor.

“I think we live in this era, I don’t know if you saw Monica Lewinsky’s TED Talk, but this public shaming,” she continued, complimenting the former White House intern’s speech on cyberbullying. “Maybe it will make everyone think before they send out that really nasty, vitriolic tweet, that there is actually a human being on the other end of that device.”
