Uh oh! First Lady Michelle Obama’s brother, Craig Robinson, is out of a job after being fired from his role as coach of the Oregon State basketball team.
According to Sports Illustrated, the team failed to make it to the NCAA tournament during the six seasons of Robinson’s tenure. His record with the Beavers is 94-105, despite starting his time with the team with an 18-win season. Robinson finished last season at 16-16.
“I want to thank Coach Robinson and his family for their contributions to Oregon State University,” Oregon State athletic director Bob De Carolis said in a statement, according to the Associated Press. “This was a difficult decision, but after further evaluation, I believe it is in the best interests of our student-athletes, our basketball program and our University.”
The last time Oregon State reached the NCAA tournament was 1990. The Beavers finished no better than fifth in the Pac-12 conference under Robinson.
If only Robinson’s record had been as good as that of his brother-in-law. The former coach introduced the First Lady at the Democratic National Convention in 2008, before Barack Obama was elected President.
