A controversial bill requiring women to receive an ultrasound before getting an abortion generated some of the most impassioned and serious debate of the spring session. But Del. Dave Albo took the issue in an entirely different direction Friday, saying the debate cost him a night of love making with his wife.
Talk about your all-time overshares. The bizarre admission unfolded this way:
Del. Dave Englin, D-Alexandria, apologized on the House floor Friday to Sen. Jill Vogel, R-Winchester, the ultrasound bill’s sponsor, for something Englin said during the debate two days earlier, on Wednesday. Moments later, Albo, R-Springfield, stood and told the chamber that he, too, deserved an apology from Englin.
Apparently Albo was home with his family in Northern Virginia Wednesday night and, after putting his kid to bed, decided he had a golden opportunity to make a move on his wife, Rita. The delegate took some red wine into the bedroom and turned on his big screen TV to find the Redskins Report because, he said, “my wife love the Redskins more than she loves me.”
Albo then cued some mood music — both in the bedroom and on the House floor as he told the story — and put his arm around his wife. But as he was flipping through the channels looking for the Redskins, Albo saw his own name pop up on the screen. He paused.
