President Trump threatened to sue the state of Nevada after its legislature passed a bill that would expand mail-in voting.
The president, who has repeatedly warned about the potential for fraud with mail-in voting, accused Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, of an “illegal late night coup” on Monday morning.
“In an illegal late night coup, Nevada’s clubhouse Governor made it impossible for Republicans to win the state,” Trump tweeted. “Post Office could never handle the Traffic of Mail-In Votes without preparation. Using Covid to steal the state. See you in Court!”

If the bill is signed, Nevada will join a handful of other states that have approved plans to send voters their ballots automatically during the health crisis.
The message from the president came a day after Nevada’s state legislature passed a bill that the governor is expected to sign that will mail all active ballots to voters before the election amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to U.S. News.
Last week, Trump suggested postponing the election until “people can properly, securely and safely vote.” But critics blame Trump for undercutting the U.S. Postal Service, making mail delivery slower and less reliable.
Louis DeJoy, a financial backer of the president and a longtime Republican donor, was named the postmaster general, and he has since made moves to cut costs which have been attributed to delivery delays and mail carriers not getting overtime, according to the New York Times.
DeJoy defended himself, saying the objective of the changes are meant to “improve operational efficiency” and to “ensure that we meet our service standards.”
