The parent activist organization Moms for Liberty was temporarily suspended from Twitter Monday for calling gender dysphoria a “mental health disorder” and claiming it was being normalized by “predators.”
“Gender dysphoria is a mental health disorder that is being normalized by predators across the USA,” the tweet said. “California kids are at extreme risk from predatory adults. Now they want to ‘liberate’ children all over the country. Does a double mastectomy on a preteen sound like progress?”

The tweet, which was sent in reference to legislation in California that would expand the availability of sex change surgeries for children, earned Moms for Liberty a 12-hour suspension from Twitter, which said the organization had violated the website’s rules on “hateful conduct.”
Twitter did not respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.

In an interview, Moms for Liberty co-founder Tina Descovich said the organization was suspended “for a tweet that spoke truth.”
“It’s an attack on truth,” Descovich said. “You’re not even allowed to speak truth anymore or that is silenced, and that’s a real concern about the national conversation in our country.”
“I think truth is under attack, and we all need to be on high alert,” she added.
The Moms for Liberty co-founder said that California was “leading [the] charge” of promoting gender dysphoria to children around the country, noting that many school districts have policies directing school staff to limit parental knowledge of a student’s gender dysphoria if the parent is deemed unsupportive.
“Parents have the fundamental right to direct the upbringing of their children, their medical care, their education, their moral and religious upbringing, that is a God-given fundamental right,” Descovich said. “It seems like for the past few decades, and on an accelerated pace these last couple of years, the government at all levels, but especially school districts, are starting to insert themselves in between children and their parents, and they’re making decisions on their behalf.”

At least two lawsuits have been filed in Descovich’s home state of Florida against school districts that are accused of having secretly facilitated a student’s gender transition without notifying the student’s parents. In one case, the student attempted suicide twice before the parents were notified.
