A Los Angeles man fought back against three robbers, shooting and killing one of them during the struggle.
Three suspects in their 20s got out of a vehicle on the 1300 block of West 35th Street in south Los Angeles on Saturday morning and tried to rob a male victim, an LAPD spokesperson said.

During the altercation, one of the victims dropped their handgun, which the victim picked up and shot one of the suspects with, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The two other suspects then reportedly fled the scene, police said. The suspect who was shot was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was questioned by police, but then released and has not been identified in the report. No charges have been filed, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The attempted robbery comes as California and other states deal with rampant brazen crime, a phenomenon being dubbed “smash and grab” in the media.

Former President Donald Trump recently called for states to deploy the National Guard to deal with rising mass crime.
“If Democrats don’t immediately stop smash-and-grab robberies, which are taking place in their cities, the National Guard must be called out. There has never been such a thing that has happened in our Country,” Trump said in a statement last month. “Large numbers of stores are leaving San Francisco and other cities. Some chains are closing most of their stores, it is all not even believable.”
