President Donald Trump’s second term is already shaping up to be one of the most consequential in

We don’t know how some issues will turn out, but you cannot deny the speed and ferocity with which Trump has attacked the job.
While we rightly focus on the “now” issues of trade, peace deals, economic data, and cultural issues, the president’s biggest legacy could be his embrace of American technological innovation, a focus not seen from a president like this in decades.

In 2019, a full decade before the next generation of cellular tech was expected to launch, Trump was already pushing for 6G. “I want 5G, and even 6G, technology in the United States as soon as possible,” he tweeted. “It is far more powerful, faster, and smarter than the current standard.” That wasn’t just a throwaway line.
Trump understood that the communications battlefield of the 21st century wouldn’t be fought with tanks or satellites; it would be won on the internet, on which everyday Americans and businesses rely. This isn’t just about faster downloads — it’s about who gets to write the rules for the digital world. The winner decides how our devices operate, how information flows, and whether or not our freedoms are protected.
And the U.S. isn’t sitting back. Companies like Qualcomm have poured billions into research
and development to make sure America leads the charge. They’re not just writing the rules of
the road and building networks; they’re shaping the future.
Trump’s vision goes beyond 6G. He’s championing the same bold, innovation-first approach
with artificial intelligence. It’s a strategy rooted in competition over complacency,
and it is redefining America’s approach to tech leadership.
I recently asked Trump in an interview whether he saw advancements in AI as a defining legacy of his second term. Is this the new space race or cold war? His answer was simple and strong.
“It is. It’s all of those things, all put in one. That’s how big it is,” Trump said, a nod to the kind of forward-looking decision-making he’s already shown.
That’s why Trump’s new AI Action Plan matters so much. He recognizes that winning in AI isn’t just a “tech issue” but a national security and economic issue. Even tech leaders agree with this assessment. Dell Technologies CEO Michael Dell praised the announcement, saying Trump’s AI Action Plan would strengthen America’s security and help the U.S. lead the future.
We may look back on Trump 2.0 in a decade and recognize this period as the moment the U.S. took a giant leap forward in technology infrastructure and policy, allowing us to increase our international tech leadership and maintain global economic and military dominance.

The country that wins the technology race will write the rules for how these systems are built and used, setting standards for privacy, security, and freedom. If we abdicate that responsibility, China will happily fill the void, and we won’t like its version of the future.
America has the talent, resources, and innovative spirit. We have a president who clearly gets this and has the right vision for an American-led technology future. The road ahead is clear: build the networks, train the talent, and lead the world. The nation that leads in AI and 6G leads the 21st century. Trump will make sure that nation is America.
