Public health officials aren’t the only COVID radicals

Public health officials are undoubtedly responsible for the COVID-19 mandates and restrictions still plaguing many parts of the country. But they’re not the only ones to blame.

A new poll this week found that left-leaning voters support extreme restrictions and punishments for anyone who refuses to abide by them. Among self-identified Democrats, 78% support President Joe Biden’s unconstitutional private sector vaccine mandate; 59% support forcing the unvaccinated into mandatory home confinement; 48% support jailing or fining those who question COVID-19 vaccines on social media; nearly half support fixing tracking devices on the unvaccinated; and 29% support taking children away from unvaccinated parents.

“President Biden’s strongest supporters are most likely to endorse the harshest punishments against those who won’t get the COVID-19 vaccine. Among voters who have a Very Favorable impression of Biden, 51% are in favor of government putting the unvaccinated in “designated facilities,” and 54% favor imposing fines or prison sentences on vaccine critics,” Rasmussen Reports said.

This is a crisis far worse than COVID-19. It’s a mass mania, one that has become so politicized that an alarming number of people want your freedom to be taken away if you disagree with or challenge their preferred narrative.

But this radicalization didn’t just start with the pandemic. Even before the virus, parents in certain states risked having their children taken away if they disagreed with the Left’s radical gender ideology and tried to stop their children from succumbing to it. Employees of major corporations across the country risked losing their jobs if they dared to speak up against the toxic racialism that has made its way into the workplace environment.

COVID-19 is just the latest vehicle the Left is using to shut down dissent, and it has exposed just how far some people are willing to go.

They can’t be allowed to succeed. Those of us who value pre-pandemic normalcy and sanity will have to make it impossible, both politically and culturally, for this kind of intolerance to become the norm.
