Steve Bannon urged former President Donald Trump to ignore the advice of Sen. Lindsey Graham and reschedule his press conference Thursday, the one-year anniversary of the Capitol riot.
The former White House chief strategist, who, like Trump, is under scrutiny by the select House committee investigating the breach of the Capitol by hundreds of Trump supporters on Jan. 6, 2021, implored his old boss Wednesday to make a public appearance that would counter the remembrances planned by Democrats.
“Donald J. Trump should walk up tomorrow at Mar-a-Lago — and the whole world would be there. He’s got command of the narrative. Nobody’s got the facts better than Donald Trump. Nobody can give a press conference better than Donald Trump,” he said during a segment on his War Room podcast along with former Trump White House adviser Peter Navarro.
Bannon also responded to an Axios report that offered an inside look into Trump’s decision to cancel his press conference, including a round of golf with Graham in which the South Carolina Republican said, “There could be peril in doing a news conference,” and he advised the former president to “focus on election reform instead.”
“When Lindsey Graham is giving you advice, run the other way. That guy is wrong on everything,” Bannon said.

He also noted that Trump should ignore the pleas of other Republican senators mentioned in a Politico report that talked about GOP complaints when Trump was planning a press event.
Trump announced Tuesday he was scrubbing his Mar-a-Lago press conference.
“In light of the total bias and dishonesty of the January 6th Unselect Committee of Democrats, two failed Republicans, and the Fake News Media, I am canceling the January 6th Press Conference at Mar-a-Lago on Thursday,” Trump said in a statement released by his Save America PAC. Instead, Trump said he will focus on discussing relevant “important topics” at his rally in Arizona planned for Jan. 15.
