Special counsel John Durham’s inquiry into the origins and conduct of the Russia investigation points straight to Hillary Clinton’s failed 2016 presidential campaign, according to one House Republican.
Rep. Jim Jordan told Fox News on Friday the prosecutor’s team “is going to the source” as evidenced by the two latest indictments in the politically charged endeavor after years of investigation into whether there was collusion between former President Donald Trump’s campaign and Russia.

Igor Danchenko, a Russian analyst who contributed to the infamous Democratic-funded anti-Trump dossier, was charged Thursday with making false statements to the FBI about his sources of information, including a longtime Democratic operative who volunteered for the Clinton campaign. The individual was not named in court documents, but his lawyer identified him as Charles Dolan Jr., a former executive director of the Democratic Governors Association, according to the Associated Press. Danchenko has indicated he plans to plead not guilty.
A prior indictment accuses Michael Sussmann, a former attorney at Perkins Coie, of lying to the FBI when he told the bureau’s top lawyer he was not representing any clients when acting on behalf of a technology executive and Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign. During the meeting in question in September 2016, he shared information on possible links between Trump and Russia. Sussmann has pleaded not guilty to a charge of lying to the FBI. His lawyers insist he never said he didn’t have clients and was representing only the technology executive.

“This indictment and the one that happened a few weeks back with Mr. Sussmann — both of these are not about these individuals lying to John Durham and his investigative team. They’re about the original lies they told back in 2016 and 2017 to the FBI that started this charade that was the Trump-Russia investigation. Durham is going to the source, when it all began, and both of these individuals, Sussmann and Danchenko, have ties to the Clinton campaign,” Jordan said.
“I think it’s interesting — you know, ‘Oh, it was President Trump who was working with Russia.’ That was baloney. But, in fact, it was the Clinton campaign who was cozying up to Russia and people who had influence with Russia,” the Ohio Republican added.
Neither Clinton nor anyone in her 2016 campaign has been charged with any wrongdoing in Durham’s investigation, but Stephen Miller, who was the senior adviser to Trump, said the new indictment brings a “deep state” plot to overthrow the government “right to the doorstep” of Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign and the Democratic Party.
