MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell ridiculed Fox News for commentary on the network about the coronavirus outbreak.
The late-night pundit reacted Wednesday morning to a video from the Washington Post, which showed how within a week’s time, Fox News hosts and guests shifted from downplaying the coronavirus to striking a more serious tone.
In a tweet, O’Donnell urged his followers to “stop calling Fox ‘news.'”
“Stop comparing [Fox News] to any other network. There has never been a fraud of this magnitude in the history of TV or news. It endangers the lives of its viewers willfully for money & to please [President Trump],” he wrote.
The video included clips from Fox News’s Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Judge Jeanine Pirro, and Pete Hegseth, and Fox Business’s Trish Regan, whose show was recently suspended to provide additional coverage of the coronavirus.
There have been about 205,452 confirmed coronavirus cases around the world, 82,000 recoveries, and 8,248 deaths, according to the latest reading by the Johns Hopkins University tracker. In the United States, there have been 6,519 cases and 115 deaths.
Stop calling Fox “news.” Stop comparing it to any other network. There has never been a fraud of this magnitude in the history of TV or news. It endangers the lives of its viewers willfully for money & to please @realDonaldTrump . https://t.co/aUIgRXtL5r
