The Mount de Sales softball team, behind a seventh-inning comeback, downed visiting John Carroll Friday afternoon, 6-5, in an Interscholastic Athletic Association of Maryland battle.
After scoring four runs in the first inning, the Sailors (7-9) waited until their last at-bats to light the scoreboard again.
Kate Whitehead knocked in the game winner in the seventh, as the Sailors scored a pair of runs in response to John Carroll?s run in the top-half of the frame.
The Patriots (9-6) took a one-run advantage in the visiting half of the seventh, after scoring single runs in the first and fifth, and adding a pair of runs in the third. Nicole Lowenstein homered for John Carroll, while Kristen Novak smacked a triple.
Both teams play home games Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Patriots host the Institute of Notre Dame (15-6), while Mount De Sales will battle first-place Archbishop Spalding (12-2).
