Top 5: Offensive tackles for Skins to draft

ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper made it clear: If the Redskins want to make sure Donovan McNabb is more than a one-year player for them, then they must address the offensive line. Um, no kidding, right? Left tackle is what they need. Here are the top five available:

1. Russell Okung, Oklahoma State » Kiper says the Redskins will pick him at No. 4. He’s the most NFL ready, he’s athletic and he’s a good pass protector. That’s good enough for us.

2. Trent Williams, Oklahoma » Some love him; some project him to right tackle. If Washington trades down — a possibility — then he could be a second option. He could end up in the top 10.

3. Anthony Davis, Rutgers » He’s a bit of a risk because there are questions about his weight and his consistency on the field. He’s a mid-round pick. However, in a couple years he could be the best of the group. He has been compared to Michael Oher.

4. Bryan Bulaga, Iowa » There’s a lot to like and enough to be concerned about. But be careful: He could be more of a guard than a tackle. And a right tackle at that. If that’s the case, why pick him in the first round?

5. Charles Brown, USC » He’s a former tight end, so he has good feet, which is a must. He’s a little lighter than most tackles, but he at least plays better than, say, Maryland’s Bruce Campbell.
