Two wins over Nebraska by a combined margin of 65 points. Buckeyes now lead nation in points per possession defense (.82).

Here’s a first for a Mike Krzyzewski-coached team: Blue Devils are last in the ACC in field goal percentage defense (44.1 percent). They yielded 54 percent shooting overall and 50 percent from the arc in loss to Florida State.

7. Baylor (17-2)

After losing two straight, Bears will get their chance for revenge against Kansas and Missouri on Feb. 8 and 11.

8. UNC (16-3)

With their inattention to defense, Tar Heels can hardly afford to lose their best defender, Strickland (ACL).

9. Murray State (20-0)

Racers have hardly been dominant. Eight wins by single-digit margins, but they are the only unbeaten in Division I.

10. Georgetown (16-3)

For JTIII a win his papa would be proud of – Hoyas beat Rutgers and shoot 29 percent.

11. UNLV (18-3)

Five of their next seven will be road tests in the tough Mountain West.

12. Marquette (16-4)

Johnson-Odom (18.2 ppg) and Crowder (16.3 ppg) are second-best scoring duo in Big East after West Virginia’s Jones (20.7 ppg) and Bryant (17.5 ppg).

13. Michigan State (16-4)

With Lucas and Lucious gone, improved chemistry with Draymond Green (15 ppg, 10 rpg) as their top dog.

14. San Diego State (16-2)

With UCLA (10-9) and USC (5-15) going nowhere, lots of streaking mid-majors in Southern California – San Diego State (10 straight), St. Mary’s (nine straight), Long Beach State (seven straight).

Has any college player improved his shot as much as Kenny Boynton (50 percent overall and 45 percent from the arc) from his figures as a sophomore (38/33) and freshman (38/29)?

16. Creighton (18-2)

Has overtaken Missouri for nation’s lead in field goal shooting (51.4 percent) and Indiana for nation’s lead in 3-point shooting (45.1 percent), led by amazing McDermott (60.8 percent overall and 50.7 from arc).

17. Virginia (15-3)

Didn’t take long for Sene’s loss to impact the Cavaliers. An already thin rotation is now severely stressed.

18. Indiana (16-4)

Where would Hoosiers be with a healthy Maurice Creek (Oxon Hill)? The 6-5 guard — one of the nation’s best freshmen two years ago — is redshirting after Achilles tear and third surgery in a span of 22 months.

19. St. Mary’s (19-2)

In next two weeks, play the next best three in the West Coast Conference – Loyola Marymount, BYU, and Gonzaga – all on the road.

20. Florida State (13-6)

None of their next six foes have a winning record in ACC and four of the games will be at home. But wouldn’t it be just like the Seminoles to lose in Tallahassee to Georgia Tech or Miami?

21. Kansas State (14-4)

Rodney McGruder, a former Archbishop Carroll teammate of Kris Joseph (Syracuse), has averaged 21.6 in the last eight games.

22. Mississippi State (16-4)

Moultrie (21 points, 14 rebounds) and Bost (24 points) starred at Vandy, in Bulldogs’ best road win.

23. Michigan (15-5)

Have lost their last three road games and will play four of their next five away from Ann Arbor.

24. Wisconsin (16-5)

Too bad Wisconsin and Virginia didn’t meet in Big Ten-ACC Challenge. Would either team have cracked 30 points? Tape could have been useful at Guantanamo Bay.
