After committing early, 2010 champion Justin Rose has apparently withdrawn from the AT&T National. His name was not on the commit list for the tournament posted this afternoon on the PGA Tour website.
The departure of the No. 9 Rose leaves the AT&T National with only two players ranked in the top 10 – No. 4 Tiger Woods and No. 10 Hunter Mahan. Other top players in the field are No. 14 Dustin Johnson, No. 17 Adam Scott, No. 21 Jason Day, and No. 28 Nick Watney, the defending champion.
A jolt of star-power will be provided, however, by three players who aren’t of legal drinking age. Beau Hossler, the 17-year-old California high school senior who made a splash by contending in last week’s U.S. Open, will play at Congressional. Also in the field are University of Texas standout Jordan Spieth, 18, the low amateur in the Open, and Patrick Cantlay, 20, the low amateur in last year’s Open at Congressional, who turned pro on Tuesday after his sophomore year at UCLA.
Former major champions in the field include Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, Y.E. Yang, Lucas Glover, Ben Curtis, Angel Cabrera, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Stewart Cink, and Trevor Immelman.
Other name players at Congressional will be Camilo Villegas, Boo Weekley, Jeff Overton, Rory Sabbatini, Kyle Stanley, Ricky Barnes, J.B. Holmes, Charles Howell III, Jhonattan Vegas, Chris DiMarco, Erik Compton, 2007 A&T National champ K.J. Choi, and former U.S. Amateur champions Colt Knost, Danny Lee, and Kelly Kraft.
Locals in the field are Steve Marino (W.T. Woodson), Kris Blanks (Lee), and Billy Hurley III (Loudoun County).
