Mystics hoping to make Sky their first win of 2007

Woe is D » The Mystics not only sit at the bottom of the WNBA standings, they currently are allowing the second most points (83.5) in the league, and they are its worst rebounding team, grabbing less than 29 boards per game while giving away more than 37. With just 14 minutes on the floor against the Shock on Wednesday, it’s clear that Monique Currie, who will face her former team for the first time tonight, is still trying to find her way in head coach Richie Adubato’s complicated offense.

Sky no longer blue » Forward Candice Dupree, the focal point of Chicago’s offense following the departure of Currie, shot 12-of-15 for 25 points, and Stacey Dales had 15 with six assists as the Sky picked up its first win of the year last week on the road at Minnesota. Chicago hosted Connecticut Thursday night before going back on the road to Washington.

Robinson retires » The Mystics announced Thursday the retirement of forward Crystal Robinson, who will become a member of the coaching staff.

Robinson, who began her career in the American Basketball League, spent seven seasons with the New York Liberty before joining the Mystics last season. With Washington, she scored 7.4 points and added 2.6 rebounds per game.
